Hope Cluster for Remote Healthcare Services
HOPE Cluster is not merely a project. It is an innovative initiative aimed at supporting families who wish to have children but face difficulties due to limited access to existing healthcare services.
Its purpose is to eliminate barriers related to distance, isolation, and the lack of medical facilities, by offering modern, digital, and remote healthcare services.
The broader vision of HOPE Cluster is to address the low birth rate in Greece, by practically supporting the creation of new families, especially in border, island, and mountainous areas.
PROJECT SCOPE
The HOPE Cluster project focuses on providing innovative gynecological and obstetric telemedicine services to women who are either pregnant or planning to have a child. It is addressed to permanent residents of remote areas of Greece and utilizes modern information and digital systems for connection with:
- Teams of doctors, nurses, and midwives
- Healthcare facilities and medical centers
- Support agencies (e.g., childcare facilities, Creative Activity Centers, etc.)
These services are deemed absolutely necessary in countries like Greece, where the geographical landscape (islands, mountains, isolated settlements) hinders access to hospitals and makes the use of telemedicine not merely useful, but imperative.
EXPECTED RESULTS
HOPE Cluster aspires to achieve:
- Equal distribution and access to healthcare services
- Reduction of necessary travel and costs for families
- Strengthening of the local community and economy
- Creation of new highly specialized jobs (doctors, midwives, nurses, IT professionals, administrators)
- Secondary jobs in the region due to increased population mobility and investment in the local market
HOPE CLUSTER — THE NEIGHBORHOOD GRANDMOTHER
One of the most distinctive and socially significant actions of the Hope Cluster project is the “Neighborhood Grandmother” program, a pioneering support model that brings young families together with middle-aged and elderly women, creating bonds of trust, solidarity, and mutual empowerment.
The program offers and provides:
- Safety and support for new parents
- Financial and psychological support for middle-aged and elderly women
- Creates new opportunities for work reintegration
- Strengthens intergenerational solidarity and the social capital of local communities
